Inscribed to the German dermatologist Alwin Scharlau. - Appointed the Coburg court theater painter in 1865, Brückner founded the atelier "Gebrüder Brückner" with his brother Gotthold in 1872, a company that went on to create stage designs for theatres across Germany for 40 years, supplying designs for the Bayreuth festival as well as for Wagner operas internationally. - Some small ink spots. Self-addressed by the collector on the reverse. The Mecklenburg physician Scharlau (b. 1888) assembled a collection of artists' autographs by personal application.
