To the theatre journalist and impresario Collignon, emphatically declining an offer for a tour to London: "Je vous remercie mon cher Collignon d'avoir songé à moi, mais pour rien du monde je n'irais passer un hiver à Londres, pas même un mois de cette mauvais saison.
