A letter in German to the publisher and writer Maurice Delamain in 1933, written from Zurich, in which Thomas describes her hasty departure from Germany due to the Nazis' seizure of power in Germany: "Da ich aber 7 Wochen im 'erwachten Deutschland' lebte, trat alles, was außerhalb dieses 'Erwachens' (das übrigens eine verzweifelte Ähnlichkeit mit epileptischen Krämpfen hat) stand, in den Hintergrund. Ich bin - wie viele andere auch - Hals über Kopf abgereist [...]". She also mentions rumours about a possible film adaptation of her book "Katrin Becomes a Soldier".
- Three letters from 1934, two of which are addressed to Maurice Delamain, in which Thomas informs him of her new address in Paris and discusses conditions for her second book; one letter to Mme Delamain about plans for a meeting. - A letter to Delamain from 1938. Thomas asks for his help with her endeavour to gift copies of her books to her friends in France who helped her escape Nazi persecution: "Je crois que je n'aurai pas revu mon pays natal cette fois ci, sans avoir eu en france tant de vrais amis qui m'ont aidé d'une manière vraiement chique et vraiement française. Pour leur remercier, j'aimerai de leur faire cadeau de mes livres. Veuillez., cher Monsieur, en envoyer á mois compte 5 exemplaires de 'Catherine soldat', et de '3/4 curiosité' 5 exemplaires également". - A short letter to Delamain asking him for help in escaping detainment in a concentration camp. Thomas has received notice that in two days she is supposed to join all other German citizens in Paris at the Vélodrome d'Hiver: "Cher Monsieur, je regrette beaucoup de vous déranger une fois de plus, mais comme je viens d'apprendre que d'ici deux jours, je sois me rendre au velodrome d'Hiver pour y être interné comme tout les ressortissants allemands, je m'adresse donc à vous". - The humanist and pacifist Jewish German writer Adrienne Thomas was detained in the notorious Camp de Gurs in 1939, together with Hannah Arendt. She was saved in 1940 by the Emergency Rescue Committee (ERC)..
