Highly interesting letter to a man named Leclerc, probably an editor, concerning a potential French publication of the important travel account and atlas of the Russian admiral and explorer Adam Johann von Krusenstern (1770-1846). Acting on behalf of the Russian ambassador in France, Alexander Kurakin, Krafft sends the recipient the positive response of the French Naval Minister Denis Decrès concerning the publication project: "C'est avec un véritable plaisir que je m'acquitte de l'ordre de S.A l’Ambassadeur Prince Kouraxin en vous transmettant ci-joint la copie de la réponse de S.E à M.
le ministre de la marine à la lettre que lui a adressée l'ambassadeur en lui faisant parvenir l'ouvrage, et l'atlas du voyage de M. de Krusenstern. Le contenu de la lettre de Mr. le D.c Decrès permet d'augurer le meilleur succès pour la publication de l’édition française de ce voyage". - The luxurious first French publication of Krusenstern's account and atlas of the first Russian circumnavigation would only appear in 1821 in a translation by the geographer Jean-Baptiste Benoît Eyriès under the title: "Voyage autour du monde, fait dans les années 1803, 1804, 1805, et 1806". - With a small water spot to the lower right margin..
