Cornwall. 30.11.1973. „I myself think the novels written about other places besides Cornwall are sometimes better! For instance, „The Scapegoad,“ (set in France) „The Progress of Julius“ (set in France) The Glass-Flowers“ (set in France) and even „The Flight of the Falcon“ (set in Italy) have more depth, to my mind than my Cornish novels, though they may not have been so popular.
I wonder what your readers would think! Meanwhile, I have ansered your questions as best I could, and forgive this short letter, but as I told you in my last answer I am working hard on research of the live and times of the two Bacon brothers - the elder, Anthony, is barely known to the non-historical reader, and was won of the first „secret agents“ of those times, employed by the ill-fated Earl of Essex. His brother Francis is of course well known, but also not really familiar to the ordinary reader.“
Cornwall. 7.9.1974. „My biography of the Bacon brothers „Golden Lads“ is now at the publishers, but I very much doubt if it will be published before next spring or summer in this country, and perhaps serveral months after that in Germany“.
