Beautiful early version of the poem of 10 quartains that would be published as part of the anthology "Poèmes décadents. 1883–1895" in 1910. Considering that the manuscript at hand bears crayon marks and finger stains of a printer, while also differing in many passages from the version in the 1910 anthology, this was probably the manuscript used for the first publication of "La Voûte" that remains to be identified. The first stanza reads: "Si tu pleures, là-bas, dans le flot des clameurs | Dont la houle s’écroule ès ombres de ma cage! | Sur mon seul souvenir choient-ils, ces pleurs calmeurs, | Blancs remords d’un Péché que l’exil noir saccage ?".
